This blog is about two things: board games and English. It doesn’t matter if you are a professional EFL or ESL teacher looking for interesting new ideas, or a casual gamer who wants to improve their English language skills, this blog has something for you.
TEACHERS: Here you can find lesson plans and ideas about how you can use different board games in class. Most of these games are widely-available on the market, but there are also some of my own classroom activities for higher-level classes (CEFR C1+) which you can download and use without spending a penny. Just type what your looking for in the search box above (see the green magnifying glass in the top right) and all the relevant activities will pop up. If you do give any of my stuff a try, please be sure to let me know how it goes!
INTERNATIONAL GAMERS: On each game’s post, there are worksheets for some extra language practice. If you are also planning on playing the game in English, there are also some cheat sheets to support you and help you experiment with some different phrases. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments!
I hope you enjoy this blog and most of all, I hope you find it useful.
TEFLGamer: board games for learning English, EFL, ESOL, ESL, EAL and a whole bunch of other fancy-sounding abbreviations.
